Guwahati, April 12, 2026 – The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division – II (formerly Assam Higher Secondary Education Council – AHSEC), has officially activated the Darpan portal for HS 1st Year admission 2026. Students who have successfully passed the HSLC (Class 10) examination this year can now apply for Higher Secondary (Class 11) courses for the academic session 2026–27.
The online application process begins today, April 12, 2026, just three days after the declaration of the HSLC results. Candidates are advised to complete their applications well before the deadline.

How to Apply Online for Assam HS 1st Year Admission 2026
Follow these step-by-step instructions to submit your application on the Darpan portal:
- Step 1: Visit the official Darpan portal (link available on ASSEB’s website).
- Step 2: Click on the “HS 1st Year Online Admission” link.
- Step 3: Register a new account by clicking on “Register a new Account”.
- Step 4: Enter your personal and educational details as required (name, father’s name, HSLC roll number, marks, etc.).
- Step 5: Upload a scanned copy of your:
- Recent passport-size photograph (JPG/JPEG/PNG, max 1 MB)
- HSLC / Class 10 marksheet (JPG/JPEG/PNG, max 1 MB)
- Step 6: Choose a 4-digit login PIN and click on Register.
- Step 7: Log in again using your credentials.
- Step 8: Select your desired course (Arts, Science, Commerce, etc.) and up to five institutions in order of preference.
- Step 9: Click on Submit and take a printout of the completed application form for future reference.
- Step 10: Regularly check the Darpan portal for updates on selection and admission offers.

How to Check Assam HS Admission Merit List 2026
After the application deadline, institutions will prepare and publish merit lists on the Darpan portal. Follow these steps to check your selection status:
- Go to the Important Web Links section on the official portal.
- Click on “HS 1st Year Merit List” link.
- Enter your Mobile Number, Date of Birth, and Security PIN.
- Click Login to access your Darpan dashboard.
- Click on “Application Submitted” button.
- You will see the list of colleges/schools you applied to, along with your admission status.
- If shortlisted, click “Accept Admission Request” against the desired institution.
Important Instructions for Students
- A student can submit a maximum of 5 applications for different institutions.
- The provisional selection list is valid only up to May 8, 2026.
- Admission confirmation by institutions must be completed by May 6, 2026.
