Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (as on 01/01/2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 33 years

Age Relaxation is applicable as per government norms:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • PwD (Unreserved): 10 years
  • PwD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwD (SC/ST): 15 years

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed:

  • 10th Class (or equivalent) from a recognized board, OR
  • Possess an ITI certificate (T1 or equivalent) or a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

Selection Process

The selection for RRB Group D posts involves four stages:

  • Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  • Document Verification (DV)
  • Medical Examination (ME)

Computer Based Test (CBT) – Detailed Pattern

  • Duration: 90 Minutes
  • Type: Objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Total Questions: 100
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Negative Marking: Yes, 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Cut-Off Marks: Minimum percentage of marks for shortlisting in various communities: UR-40%, EWS-40%, OBC (Non creamy layer)-30%, SC-30%, ST-30%. These percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2 marks for PwBD candidates in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.

Minimum Qualifying Marks (CBT): UR/EWS – 40%, OBC/SC/ST – 30%. A 2% relaxation is applicable for PwBD candidates if needed.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates who qualify the CBT will be called for PET. The qualifying standards are:

Document Verification and Empanelling of Candidates

  • Based on the performance of candidates in CBT subject to their qualifying in PET, the number of candidates to be called for Document Verification (DV) will be equal to the number of notified vacancies (i.e. in the ratio of 1:1).
  • In case of two or more candidates securing same normalized percentile score, their merit position shall be determined by age criteria i.e. older person shall be placed at higher merit and in case age being same, then alphabetical order (A to Z) of the name shall be taken into account to break the tie.
  • Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates.

a) Mathematics:

Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM & HCF, Ratio & Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Simple & Compound Interest, Profit & Loss, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.

b) General Intelligence & Reasoning:

Analogies, Alphabetical & Number Series, Coding-Decoding, Mathematical operations, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation, Decision making, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement-Arguments & Assumptions.

c) General Science:

Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences (Biology) up to the 10th standard level (CBSE).

d) General Awareness & Current Affairs:

Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Important Personalities, Economics, Politics, and other events of national & international importance.
